The Peace Education Program is receiving a positive response from participants in the Mauritius Prison Service, and officers plan to start offering the program more widely.
Fulfilling the mission of the Mauritius Police Force (MPF) to protect the public often requires officers to stay calm and focused even amid the most stressful of circumstances. To help with this, the MPF recently worked with TPRF volunteers to offer the Peace Education Program to a group of 28 officers, and more sessions are in the works.
The Peace Education Program (PEP) is being warmly received in the small tropical island nation of Mauritius, which lies 1,200 miles off the southeast coast of Africa. The innovative course became available after Maoomar Hoota, a 21-year-old engineering student, took the initiative to bring it to the Atlantis Business School in the town of Vacoas.
