New initiative with World Central Kitchen will help provide crucial food, water and shelter in areas hit hard by Hurricanes Iota and Eta.
The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) is partnering with the World Central Kitchen to help people recover from devastating hurricanes in Honduras, Guatemala and Colombia.
Hurricanes Iota and Eta both hit the region in November with torrential floods that left hundreds of thousands of people without basic necessities as they were already struggling to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. TPRF is giving a $25,000 grant to World Central Kitchen (WCK) to provide food, water and shelter in some of the hardest hit areas.
WCK and its local partners in Central America are mounting a nimble response and the TPRF funds will help save lives. “We are incredibly grateful for TPRF’s support. Over the past few weeks, needs have shifted rapidly, and the grant to support this response will allow WCK to allocate the funding where it is needed the most. We will deliver food relief for as long as we are needed and we have the funding to do so,” says Daniel Poole, WCK Development Manager.
TPRF Founder Prem Rawat and the board appreciate all of those who make this assistance possible.

TPRF, together with World Central Kitchen, can make an important difference to the victims of this disaster; nutritious food will help sustain the people while they struggle to rebuild their lives and their communities,” says Linda Pascotto, TPRF Board Chair.
The new initiative to help people recover from these storms follows more than $300,000 that TPRF has provided in 2020 to various partners around the globe to help people cope with natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic. That effort included an additional $25,000 grant to WCK to feed people struggling with the impact of COVID-19 in the U.S. TPRF also successfully partnered with WCK in 2019 as part of a $100,000 effort to help people in the Bahamas recover from Hurricane Dorian.
Founded by chef José Andrés, the mission of WCK is to use the power of food to empower communities and strengthen economies in times of crisis and beyond. It is a goal shared by TPRF which aims to advance dignity, peace and prosperity by addressing the fundamental human needs of food, water and peace.
TPRF also fulfills its mission with signature initiatives beyond crisis relief grants, such as the Food for People and the Peace Education programs.
Food for People provides nutritious meals, clean water, and educational opportunities to impoverished communities in India, Nepal and Ghana.
The Peace Education Program is an innovative series of video-based workshops that help people discover their own inner strength, hope and peace. The program is being appreciated now more than ever, and the customarily in-person workshops are increasingly being offered virtually.
