Potenza News Covers Peace Education Program in Italy

The Potenza News in Italy covered the Peace Education Program and Senator Arnaldo Lomuti’s visit to the Casa Circondariale correctional facility. Lomuti is a member of the Senate’s Justice Commission who is supporting the implementation of an agreement with the Ministry of Justice to expand the program across the country.

Senator Lomuti from the Senate’s Justice Committee visited the Correctional Facility (Casa Circondariale) in Potenza

 

The Potenza Correctional Facility is demonstrating an innovative and avant-garde approach towards the enforcement of sentences.

 

In his meeting with the Management of the Facility, Mr Lomuti presented the Peace Education Program (PEP) as a valid tool to apply in the education of inmates and their reintegration into society.

 

This important program is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry of Justice’s Department for the Management of Correctional Facilities and is a national project promoting a rehabilitation program able to make inmates aware of the importance of making informed choices and become more aware of their own behavior.

 

The visit to the Correctional Facility ended with a commitment from all those there to continue these projects and initiatives aimed at contributing positively to the inmates’ re-entry into society.
