In early 2026, The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF), together with Premsagar Foundation and Youth Peace Foundation, delivered free eye care to underserved communities at clinics across India. The clinics, held in Mirzapur, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad and New Delhi served 5,800 patients. These clinics are part of an ongoing humanitarian initiative that has already served hundreds of thousands of people, offering vision screenings, free spectacles, medications and referrals for advanced treatment.
The Need for Eye Care in India
Across India, vision impairment remains a widespread yet often overlooked challenge. Millions of people live with preventable or treatable conditions but lack access to basic eye care. Many cases are linked to cataracts and other conditions that can be effectively treated when diagnosed early.
For those in rural and other underserved communities, even a simple eye exam is often unaffordable. Without a diagnosis, treatment cannot begin. This creates a cycle in which poor vision limits education, reduces employment opportunities and limits independence in daily life.
A key part of addressing these needs is providing opportunities to team up with the medical community. TPRF eye clinics collaborate with local volunteer optometrists and ophthalmologists who provide their services. Many doctors, after experiencing the impact of the clinics first-hand, provided encouraging feedback. The growing support and awareness in the medical community is a positive sign for future eye clinics.

Surajpur and New Delhi Eye Clinics
In January and February 2026, mobile eye clinics were organized in multiple regions, including ECO Center in Surajpur, Chhattisgarh (January 31–February 1, 2026) and Raj Vidya Kender in Chhatarpur, New Delhi (February 14–15, 2026).
At these clinics, patients received comprehensive eye examinations, free prescription glasses, essential medications and diagnosis of serious conditions such as cataracts. For many, this was the first time they had ever been examined by a trained eye specialist. Similar clinics across other regions are also part of this ongoing outreach, bringing care to thousands more in need.
The impact extends deeply. A pair of glasses can help a child read in school. A diagnosis can lead to sight-restoring surgery. Clear vision allows people to work, care for their families and move safely through daily life.
New Delhi Clinic: Scale and Impact
The two-day eye medical clinic in New Delhi, held in Shahurpur, Chhatarpur, demonstrated the reach and effectiveness of these efforts.
During the clinic, more than 1,100 people from nearby areas had their eyes examined. A team of experienced doctors screened for cataracts, weak eyesight, eye irritation and related conditions.
In addition, 813 spectacles were distributed, 839 patients received eye-drop medications and 44 cataract patients were identified and referred for further care. Free spectacles and necessary medicines were provided to those in need. Patients requiring additional attention received consultation and guidance for continued treatment.
Raising Awareness with Community Leaders
The clinic was inaugurated by Shri Umed Singh Phogat, Chairman of the South Zone MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) and Municipal Councillor. His presence highlighted local government support and the importance of eye health awareness, reinforcing collaboration between public institutions and charitable organizations like TPRF.
On the second day, DIG Vijayanta Goyal Arya, IPS (Indian Police Service), attended as Chief Guest. As a senior police officer, she represented civic leadership and encouraged community participation in social welfare programs. Both dignitaries helped bring attention to the clinic, emphasizing the broader societal significance of accessible eye care.
Making Eye Care Accessible to All
Modern medicine can prevent or treat most vision problems.
In fact, the World Health Organization states that up to 80 percent of eye conditions are curable with timely and proper care.
For many people, however, the barrier is not medical knowledge but affordability and access. Those living in poverty often cannot afford to visit a doctor to receive an official diagnosis. Without that diagnosis, they are unable to access hospital care or qualify for necessary procedures such as cataract surgery.
By providing these essential diagnoses free of charge, the clinics open the door to further treatment. In this way, a temporary clinic becomes a vital gateway to long-term healing.

The clinics inspired heartfelt appreciation from both patients and medical professionals. Doctors expressed gratitude to The Prem Rawat Foundation for its remarkable commitment to helping those in need, while patients shared joy and relief after receiving care, glasses, or guidance for further treatment, highlighting the lasting impact of these clinics.
