OBJECTIVE:

Man the TPRF or PEP booths during a five-day convention at Ivory’s Rock Conventions & Events (IRCE), Australia, in September 2017. Point visitors to the information they seek and provide assistance.

DESCRIPTION:

In September 2017, TPRF will have two booths at the Pavilion area during a five-day convention at IRCE, Ipswich, Australia - one for TPRF and one for the Peace Education Program (PEP). Around 30 volunteers are needed to staff the booths and provide information about TPRF and PEP to visitors. Shifts will be 2-3 hours each and may be cut short due to scheduled events.

TASKS:

• Man the TPRF or PEP booths for 2 to 3 shifts during the convention
• Point visitors to the materials and displays available
• Write down questions and ask the project manager for answers
• Make sure the booth opens on time and closes on time
• Occasional, light cleaning and lifting of non-heavy items may be required

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Able to converse in English
• Other languages are an advantage
• Volunteers at the PEP booth must have experience with PEP workshops
• Volunteers at the TPRF booth require no prior experience

REQUIRED RESOURCES: Must be registered to attend the five-day September convention at IRCE; practical shoes

TRAINING/BRIEFING PROVIDED:

All booth volunteers must attend an onsite 45-minute volunteer briefing either Saturday, September 9 or Sunday, September 10 at the TPRF booth. Briefing times: Around 10am (TBD). Volunteers must also complete a 30-minute online briefing prior to arriving at IRCE.

LOCATION: All shifts will be at the TPRF or PEP booth, the Pavilion, IRCE

TIME COMMITMENT:

Approximately 10-12 hours, which includes completing an online volunteer briefing, attending an onsite volunteer briefing, and staffing the booths for 2 to 3 shifts
