Maharaji launches food aid initiative

Maharaji in the cornestone ceremony, Bantoli

In a ceremony that took place in Bantoli, a village in the state of Jharkand, Maharaji laid the cornerstone for the foundation of a facility that will bring free nutritious meals to children and adults in need. The Bantoli area, which is a remote region in northeastern India, is home to some of the poorest people on earth.

Maharaji, speaking to an audience of village elders, adults, and children from Bantoli and the surrounding villages who had gathered for the occasion, said: “I am very glad to see this project being launched. When I first came here, I saw that the people were very rich in heart, but lacked the most basic necessities. I felt it would be good if a facility were developed where food could be made available to the needy. It is with this intention that The Prem Rawat Foundation is launching this project, which will benefit the people of Bantoli and, in particular, the children.” (translated from Hindi)

A village elder later declared: “This initiative is a golden opportunity for us, the people of Bantoli. We intend to take full benefit from this gift from Maharaji, which will help us build a better future for ourselves and our children.” (translated from a local dialect)
