People of Bantoli
A conversation with Linda Pascotto, President of The Prem Rawat Foundation.
The Prem Rawat Foundation promotes Maharaji's message of peace and spearheads humanitarian initiatives to improve the quality of life for people most in need.
The Foundation has held eye clinics in India, where thousands of free consultations were provided. TPRF has also sent rice to war-torn refugees in the Ivory Coast and batteryless flashlights to hurricane victims in Grenada. Recently, the Foundation gave a grant to Healing the Children, a nonprofit organization that arranges free surgery for children in need.
In a ceremony hosted by the former Prime Minister of Italy at the Italian Senate, Maharaji recently handed over a check for $150,000 to a representative of the World Food Programme for food aid to hungry people in Indonesia.
Only a few weeks after that ceremony, Maharaji laid the cornerstone of a facility where nutritious food will be provided to people in need in Bantoli, in northeastern India. Through TPRF, he is launching an initiative aimed at providing food each day for some of the poorest people on earth.
These people live in tribes and are descendants of the original inhabitants of India. They lack the most fundamental amenities: proper food, shelter, medical care, and medicine. Sadly, the economic progress that has benefited India recently has not reached them yet.
We spoke at length with Linda Pascotto, President of TPRF, about the people of Bantoli and about how to help improve their quality of life. This conversation was then turned into a three-part article.
