In mid-July, a golf tournament and dinner was held to benefit TPRF’s Japanese Disaster Relief Fund. There were 44 golfers and 72 dinner attendees at the beautiful Echo Falls Golf Course outside of Seattle, Washington. Several beginners were paired with more experienced golfers in a “scramble best ball” format. Team scramble tournaments like this enable new golfers to have a fun experience of golf without any pressure of having to make all the shots on their own. Everyone involved expressed how much they enjoyed the event.

Participants came from Washington, Oregon, Canada and California. There were 21 guests who heard a presentation on The Prem Rawat Foundation for the first time with the showing of the TPRF DVD Dignity, Peace and Prosperity. The Japanese Consul in Seattle was invited but was unable to attend. He did, however, send his appreciation and gratitude for our efforts to help Japan in this time of need.

Ten local businesses and individuals helped sponsor the event. One of the sponsors offered a new truck to anyone hitting a hole-in-one on a par 3,150-yard hole over the water. A young novice golfer playing in his first tournament was only 30 inches from the cup on that hole and won a trophy for “closest to the pin.” Another sponsor donated beautiful embroidered tote bags for all golf participants. Yet another donated $250 cash, which one of the lucky golfers won in a drawing at the end of the banquet event.

As it turned out, the event was not only a fundraiser, but an enjoyable fun-raiser with much laughter and celebration during the dinner and awards presentation.

By the end of the evening, $6,500 was raised to support TPRF’s Japanese Disaster Relief Fund.
